Etiquette for friend of the father of the bride?

I am a wedding in April for my friend's daughter. He is 47, I'm 32 and she is 26 and we have was three years ago. The daughter and I are not really close. I have problems with, I should do something in relation to their wedding for this, what kind of clothing is appropriate, what kind of gift to get and what should I at the wedding. About the dress indicated, my mother I see the best in pink. Dusty Rose, she has chosen for the bridesmaids, so I want to look not like her. I too am an employee goes wedding in May so I would like to be able to wear the same dress. But, my friend in a tuxedo, I must fit it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
